Digital Resources for you and your patients
How can I support my patients to use digital help?
- Show the program/app to your patient and help them log in or download.
- Plan when they can look at it and when to do the suggested activity.
- Follow up and check in at the next follow up consultation. Find out what was helpful and if any issues arose.
How can I choose from so many digital options?
- Develop your own “Digital Toolkit”.
- Get to know one or two of the information pages or treatment programs and other tools/services.
- You can learn about them over time.
- Know their strengths and limitations of each tool.
- Have a couple of points about a particular resource that you can use in your conversation with the patient.
Is digital mental health appropriate for all patients?
Digital mental health may not be appropriate for:
- Acutely suicidal or at risk patients
- Patients who have significant psychosocial instability or chaos
- Those who are at “capacity” – that is, there is already too much happening for them at the moment
- Those with specific and defined challenges and difficulties with technology or accessibility to digital platforms
- Patients who are not interested in learning information and skills, or are looking for another specific type of intervention.
